Brewing the Perfect Cup: A Journey through the World of Coffee

19 October 2023
Coffee World For Hire

Coffee, the elixir that kickstarts our mornings and fuels our workdays, has transcended its humble origins to become a global symbol of energy, culture, and community. From the aromatic bean plantations of Ethiopia to the bustling coffee shops of New York City, the rich history and diverse flavors of coffee have captivated the hearts of millions worldwide. Join us on a delightful exploration of the world of coffee, from its origins to its modern-day significance.

The Roots of Coffee:

Legend has it that coffee was first discovered in the 9th century by an Ethiopian goat herder named Kaldi. He noticed that his goats became remarkably energetic after consuming the red cherries from a certain tree. This discovery led to the birth of coffee, as we know it today. Since then, the cultivation of coffee has spread to various regions across the globe, with different countries perfecting their own unique methods of growing, processing, and roasting the beans.

Diverse Brewing Techniques:

Whether you prefer the rich, velvety texture of a French press brew or the delicate flavors extracted through pour-over methods, the art of brewing coffee is a deeply personal and cultural experience. Each technique, from the traditional Turkish coffee preparation to the contemporary aeropress method, offers a distinct taste and aroma that reflects the expertise and passion of the brewer. Experimenting with different brewing techniques can open up a whole new world of coffee appreciation, allowing you to discover flavors you never thought possible.

Exploring Coffee Culture:

Coffee is not just a beverage; it’s a social phenomenon that brings people together. The rise of coffee culture has transformed the way we socialize, work, and unwind. Cafés have become communal hubs where artists find inspiration, entrepreneurs strike deals, and friends catch up. From the lively espresso bars of Italy to the cozy, book-filled cafés of Paris, each culture has embraced coffee in its unique way, blending it seamlessly into their social fabric.

Health Benefits and Beyond:

Beyond its invigorating aroma and robust flavor, coffee offers a plethora of health benefits. Research suggests that moderate coffee consumption can reduce the risk of certain diseases, such as type 2 diabetes and Parkinson’s. Its high antioxidant content also contributes to improved cognitive function and a reduced risk of certain cancers. However, it’s important to remember that moderation is key, as excessive consumption can lead to adverse effects such as insomnia and increased anxiety.

Sustainability and Ethical Sourcing:

As the demand for coffee continues to rise, the importance of sustainable and ethical sourcing practices cannot be overstated. Fair trade initiatives, organic farming methods, and responsible sourcing are crucial in ensuring that coffee production remains environmentally friendly and socially responsible. Supporting coffee growers who prioritize ethical and sustainable practices not only promotes a healthier planet but also ensures a better quality of life for those involved in the production process.

From its legendary origins in the Ethiopian highlands to its omnipresence in contemporary culture, coffee has woven itself into the fabric of human existence. It is more than just a beverage; it is a source of inspiration, a catalyst for social interaction, and a testament to the beauty of diverse cultural practices. Whether you savor it in the quiet comfort of your home or amidst the bustling ambiance of a local café., let each sip remind you of the rich history and artistry that culminate in that perfect cup of coffee. So go ahead, take another sip, and let the warmth of this cherished beverage envelop you in its timeless allure.

Our New Office Coffee Machine

31 May 2023
Coffee World For Hire

Out of all the various catering options we offer, our favourite is the coffee service. We use quality machines, quality beans and quality grinders that are dialled in at each event to dispense perfect coffee. We serve what we like to drink ourselves.

For a long time we have had a little coffee machine in the office, from delonghi. A bean to cup machine that needed you to froth the milk yourself, but did everything else for you.

Delonghi Magnifica S Coffee Machine

Sadly this recently became a deceased machine. In truth I had repaired it a number of times, but on this occasion I decided that after making something like 10,000 coffees it was time for a new one.

One of the issues we had, was that some of the office staff weren’t very good at frothing the milk to make latte’s and the like. So we wanted something that everyone could use. To this end we finally sourced a Siemens EQ700, fully automatic machine.

Siemens EQ700 Fully automatic coffee machine.

This was a pearler of a machine. Not only did it offer a full range of coffees, but for the gadget freaks in the office, it as controllable not only from a phone app, but Alexa could be asked to make a ‘Latte’ and would oblige. So the less coffee savvy amongst us could make anything.

It also had what they termed coffee world, a system where additional coffee recipes could be accessed, allowing us to try coffee from all around the world.

New Equipment, High End Coffee Grinders

13 March 2023

We are in the process of building a new coffee van, this time based on a vintage Citroen Acadiane van. We wanted to give this more of a 1970’s vibe so commissioned the rebuild of a vintage Cimbali lever pull espresso machine to fit in with the ‘vibe’.

Coffee Grinders

We also needed a new coffee grinder and wanted a more utilitarian looking grinder to go with this. The modern stuff is all flashing lights and in built computers, we wanted something that looked, well, a bit more solid.

Some one recommended the German brand Mahlkönig. After a brief look online, it looked solid enough to fit the bill, and came with a fabulous recommendation. So we bought one.

Jeez, when I actually went to collect it I was stunned. This wasn’t just solid. This was the King Tiger Tank of grinders. I think it is actually heavier than the single group coffee machine we are having refurbed.

You have to actually see this in the flesh to appreciate just how friggin big it actually is.

The company was founded in Hamburg in 1924. Initially it concentrated on the production of electric motors. But in the 60’s made the decision to concentrate on the production of coffee grinders.

The company rapidly established an enviable reputation for quality coffee grinders, leading up to its present day position as one of the market leaders.

Anyway stay tuned for images of our little red coffee van as it is due to be launched in the next few weeks.

The waltzer car has been manufactured especially for the cafe rather than being a second hand piece from a waltzer. Being custom made ensued that then cafe could put their own touch to the center piece. They had them fitted out with velvet seating and labelled with the phrase ‘sorry mum’ and ‘cry wolf’ in reference to the hidden tattoo parlor under the cafe. International Coffee Day

1 October 2020
Espresso coffee carts for weddings parties events

International coffee day celebrates one of our favourite lines. Coffee, that dark Arabian wine that has spread throughout the globe. Our espress carts serve all the usual latte, cappuccino, ristretto etc, and tends to be one of our staff favourite carts.

The first direct evidence of the cultivation of coffee comes from the 15th century. It was used as a stimulant by various African tribes. Coffee as a drink also appears in the 15th century in the accounts of Ahmed al-Ghaffar in Yemen. It seems the Arabs were the first for roast and brew coffee in a manner similar to what we do today.

In 1670 Sufi Baba Budan smuggled coffee beans out of Arabia. Into the Indian sub continent with the first seeds planted in Mysore.

Coffee had spread to Italy by the 1600’s and then into the rest of Europe.

Through the efforts of the British East India Company, coffee became popular in England as well. Indeed coffee shops became the meeting places of the intelligentsia as well as radicals and revolutionaries. Lloyds of London the world famous insurance market had its humble beginnings in one of London’s coffee houses.

However you take your coffee one of our carts provide a full range of drinks. Including speciality teas, redbush and drinking chocolate. So celebrate international coffee day in style.

Son’s Of Amazon offer a caffeine buzz

29 April 2019

Do you know what the most used drug is? No not marijuana, not cocaine or pills surprisingly but caffeine. It seems that everyone both young and old crave that Caffeine Buzz

I’m sure you’re not unfamiliar with that caffeine buzz, the restlessness, the increased heartbeat, the nausea the sweaty palms and the inability to fall asleep all from one cup of coffee. And if you want a quicker buzz then you go for the espresso option the short black coffee option. But the more you drink the more you build up a tolerance.

Caffeine Buzz

Coffee lovers might remember when they first started drinking coffee and the kick they got from it but now they have to scour the shops to find a blend of coffee that still offers a kick in one cup. The sweet coffee smell the strong bitter taste well the search is finally over. A company called Sons Of Amazon claim to be the owners of the strongest coffee in the UK.

A standard 8oz cup of coffee is said to have around 110mg of caffeine but Sons of Amazon’s coffee blend has four times that amount with their motto reading ‘Strong enough to wake the dead’ you know that this coffee is going to be strong enough to blow your socks off.

Sons Of Amazon Strong Coffee

The Brains Behind The Coffee

Eric Witham is the brains behind the coffee stating that not only well known for the strength his coffee is also ethically sourced with no chemicals being used to increase the substances in the roasting process. Witham is said to have tested many different coffee beans from different farms before deciding on the best.

Despite being over 100% stronger than the standard cup of coffee it is advertised on the website as being anything but horrifically bitter. After looking at some of the reviews online I am now off to order myself a bag for the long days and nights you face in the event industry I now feel like my body has become too immune to caffeine and I have to have a few cups throughout the day to get the old affect so hopefully this can restore my faith and bring back a caffeine kick experience.

Some customer reviews read;

“Didn’t know what to expect from a coffee claiming to be so strong but I was very pleasantly surprised by what I found. Great tasting coffee with a caffeine kick that will keep you going throughout the day. Will 100% buy again and recommend to friends. “

Whilst another review stated ;

“Surprisingly smooth for something so strong. (There’s definitely a joke in there somewhere…. about liking my men the way I like this coffee) Will definitely buy again.”

You can purchase a packet of these coffee beans on Amazon.
